Dear reader,

Welcome to the second letter from LokBros Studio. We’ve been busy!

Learning from flockUp’s launch

flockUp, our first product for event organizing (powered by SMS), launched at the beginning of February.

This is our first product, and our online audience is (relatively) small. That’s been totally fine, because it’s meant that we get to be in close contact with people who have started using flockUp in earnest.

Tactically, our “launch plan” was pretty simple:

  • Post on our social channels
  • Reach out directly to our network for feedback

It was enough. We’ve learned a TON post-launch. Some things worked for us, and others didn’t do as well as we expected.

While we’re still processing feedback, our general direction is to:

  • serve communities who want a dedicated number and a white-labeled feel to their member interactions
  • make flockUp a powerful community communication hub
  • bundle website, media, and ticketing services with flockUp

Websites

In my last letter, it seemed as though we were deprioritizing website gigs. It’s crazy how quickly things can change for a small business like us. This month we found ourselves in more than a couple conversations about building websites for prospective clients. After a couple meetings, we realized how we could reorganize the way that we build websites for our clients.

The reorientation is based on a few important shifts:

  • Introducing transparent pricing
  • Focusing on a communicative and collaborative design process
  • Leveraging AI for building
  • Streamlining our hosting / operations

By combining our skills and sprinkling in some technological finesse, we can serve customers at a low cost and still at a high quality.

Our new website and media pages are live. Pricing for websites starts at $700, but we’ll be increasing it as the client base grows!

Hosting Events in Boston

On March 1, we hosted Acoustic Toucan — a cozy art and music festival. It was hosted at Kaamil’s apartment and was an absolute hit. People had a blast, and we’ve gotten great feedback from attendees.

This has been part of our effort to build community in the Boston area. Expect more hosting, joining, and highlighting of the amazing things happening here.

Til next time,
Saalik
