The Event
Attendees were given unique RFID "toucan tags" that they were able to tap on "berry bushes" set up across the space. Tapping a bush gave them a berry, which they could feed to the Toucan or the Oracle.

Berries Picked-- Reactions --
There’s nothing like this in Boston
The energy and power that came from this event - f’ing phenomenal!
It allowed us to be creative together
Felt that the event carried forward community, and I was able to be myself and not be judged
I think you managed to make a more interesting and interactive experience than people who could spend millions of dollars on this experience

The Experiences

Feed the Toucans
Players tapped the toucans' beak to feed the toucan. Connected to a realtime backend, a large screen visual showed how many of each berry was fed by the participants.

Dance with the Fireflies
A body-tracking game where fireflies arranged themselves into a dance pose, and players had to match them. Matching closely with the fireflies dance poses awarded a unique berry.

The Enchanted Gardens
A craft station where attendees made bugs and flora to adorn the gardens. The Guardians of the Garden had a special RFID sensor to dispense a rare berry.

The Oracle
A giant wise frog who gave hints, wisdom, and lore about the world of Toucan City. Using a kiosk, players fed the oracle berries on his huge tongue and received mysterious visions.

The MirrorBird
Half-toucan, half-bird, our facilitator for the evening hosted connective activities for small groups, and then gathered the whole room together for theatric moments through the evening.

The Machine
A mysterious machine, seemingly extracting berries. It mirrored a pixelated version of people as they approached.
A coordination of art, buildout, and tech.
From RFID-enabled flowers to real-time web control — systems orchestrated to turn imagination into immersive reality.
With systems and tech intricately connected, we controlled the flow of the entire event through a unified web interface.
- RFID-enabled flowers — sensors in petals trigger interactions
- Real-time web server — fine grained control of the meta-game, analytics, and triggering important moments.
- Unified admin panel — control lights, visuals, and flow
- Body-reactive visuals — firefly animations respond to movement
